Allowance and sessions

Two ways to pay for agent calls on Kite Passport. An allowance renews and covers everyday spending. A session covers one task.

Your agent pays for a call in one of two ways. Both are budgets you approve with your passkey.

Allowance vs. session

Allowance: one budget for all your agents. It renews every week or month, so you approve only once.
Session: a budget for one task, with its own limit and end date. Use it when you want tighter control.

Which one to use

Use an allowance for routine paid API calls you don't want to approve one by one.

Use a session when you want:

A hard cap per payment.
A fixed end date.
A budget for one specific task.
A spend above your allowance.

Shopping checkouts always use a session. Many users use both.

Who pays a call

While a session you approved is active, it pays.
When that session is used up, your agent stops and asks you.
When it has expired, or there is no session, the allowance pays with no prompt.
If the allowance can't pay (not set, used up for this period, or too small), your agent tells you and asks before requesting a session.

Turn on your allowance

One budget for all your agents, renewed every week or month, approved once.

Open the Passport dashboard Home at agentpassport.ai/overview.
Click Allowance · Set up at the top of Live sessions, or Set up allowance on the card.
Enter an amount. The most you can set is 100 USD.
Pick Weekly, Every 2 weeks or Monthly.
Tick Covers my current and future agents.
Click Approve and confirm with your passkey.

Without a passkey, create one first. See Install Passport.

Home then shows the money left and the reset date. Turn agents on or off, or cancel the allowance, under Manage.

Agents spend from your Passport balance up to the allowance. An empty balance stops payments even when an allowance is set. See Funding your wallet.

Allowance is live mode only. It is not available in sandbox.

Use a session

A session covers one task. You approve it once, and it pays until it runs out or expires.

Your agent requests a session with the limits it needs:

The command returns an approval link. Open it on any device where your passkey lives and approve the session.
The session pays for your agent's calls until it runs out of budget or expires.
